Summer beach holiday essentials

H&M
As the song goes "Summer ...Summer Summer time" and where sun is concerned I'm not the only one dreaming of Summer holidays. Nothing like the thought of a sandy beach or a poolside sunbed to get a girls heart racing. So if your lucky enough to be jetting away to a sun destination over the next few months check out my top summer essentials. One shouldn't even dream of boarding a plane without!

Bikini:
Loving this colour bikini from H&M, this would look great with sun kissed skin and would look fab teamed with a multi coloured kaftan. When your on holidays try to wear a mix of bikini's in alter neck, straps and strapless. That way you will get a great over all tan and the mix will work on eliminating any tan lines you might have picked up over the week. Any bikini with a little padding in the bust is always a plus for me.
Oasis

Maxi Dress:
We love nothing more than an express cover up that can bring us from sunbed to poolside restaurant in one easy step. This tropical maxi dress has such a great colour combo and can take you from day to night. Just add a pair of jewelled sandles or tan wedges depending on your height.
River Island

Flat Sandles:
Yes believe it or not there will be a point on your holiday when your too hot or just too plain hungover to wear a pair of high heels. The last thing you want to do is sacrifice your beautifully co-ordinated outfit with a pair of plastic flipflops. Jewelled or metallic sandals to the rescue there has never been so much choice on the high-street. These are perfect for dressing up a plain white dress or a top and shorts for night.
Blazer:
A common crime I witness when temperatures drop, is a super sexy summer dress with a hoodie thrown over it. Its time to invest in a cute blazer for chilly nights. You cant go wrong with this bang on trend colour pop blazer. Also a winner worn with denim shorts and once you get home you can team it with your skinny or boyfriend jeans.

Denim Shorts:
My holy grail of summer essentials and a must in any girls wardrobe a pair of denim shorts. Team them with a bright coloured chiffon top and wear with heels to make your pins appear longer. Once they’ve made their evening debut you can work a casual look with a tank top and statement earrings. Perfect for sipping on afternoon cocktails by the pool side bar.

River Island

Travel Tote:
I'm in love with this tote!! Its super chic and of course white is a huge trend for Summer. Great for travelling over on the plane and for an early evening dinner to haul your blazer or sweater out with you. Even if I wasn't going away I’d find an excuse to pick up this tote.

Sunglasses:
What holiday would be complete without a new pair of shades! Love these fun shades from Topshop perfect for covering up those party eyes during the day. Well no one looks back on there life and remembers the nights they got enough sleep..right! Bring on the sunshine and long deserved Summer breaks away!

Stay Stylish and sun safe!

Only Cheryl Cole can make a simple black waistcoat and denim shorts look so hot right! How to wear: Black with a pop of colour

It's exam time for most students right now but if study stress wasnt the only thing girls have to deal with its worrying about what graduation outfit to wear. As most students are on a tight budget I've picked two outfits to give you some inspiration on what to wear. These looks are easily adaptable with your existing wardrobe, both focusing around the colour black with a pop of colour.

Outfit 1: Smart Chic
Most graduations call for a formal outfit that is chic yet comfortable, lets face it your outfit will be covered up with a gown for the ceremony and for photos but you have to be prepared for going for lunch and drinks afterwards. Take a simple fitted black trousers and dress it up with a structured blazer to break the black, be sure to add some glam with a nice colour pop on your feet.

Blazer: River Island
Trousers: H&M
Top: Mango
Shoes: ALDO
Bag: ZARA

Outfit 2: Girly Chic
Tie Dye is a great trend we see popping up year after year, again a great way to add colour to an otherwise black outfit. The weather has improved and the sun is finally out so make the most of it and team this cute dress with a pair of purple peep toe heels. The best news is the dress is only €25 and the heels €24.99 that's an outfit for under €50!! and who doesnt have a black blazer and black clutch in there wardrobe to go with them?

Dress: NoPolka.com
Jacket: Jane Norman

Hope this helps to inspire anyone on a budget! Be sure to let me know which one is your favourite. Good Luck to all my readers doing exams this month!!

Met Ball 2013: Best and Worst dressed

Blake Lively wearing Gucci
Hollywood A-listers collected by the limo load for the annual Metropolitian Museum of Arts- "Met Gala" last night. This year it carried the theme "Punk: Chaos to Couture" and it definately brought some chaotic fashion to the red carpet event. With such a theme we expected leather, studs, choker mohawks but it just felt like some stars just didnt get the memo or just plain ignored it. That being said there was still a few ladies that executed the theme and some that should just have been well ..executed for what they wore! Here is a look at the gowns that hit the Met Gala 2013.

Best dressed:
Taylor Swift wearing J Mendel, I'm not a fan of hers but her dress is stunning.
Stacy Keiber- Rachel Roy, I love and I'd wear it!
Jessica Alba -Peek a boo leather dress from Tory Burch, she even rocked up to the event wearing a black studded biker jacket to work with the theme.
My Best dressed: The theme was Punk! Cara's choice is evening glam and her spikes play on the theme perfectly.
Here is a few more note worthy outfits from last night
Rooney Mara wearing Givenchy couture, looking a bit washed out but a stunning dress all the same.

Kristen Stewart in Stella Mccartney with eyeshadow to match.
J-Lo wearing Micheal Kors I'm loving her hair.
Julianne Hough wearing custom Topshop
Florence Welch wearing Givenchy, the look suits her.
Gwyneth Paltrow wearing Valentino Couture but a far cry from the punk theme.
Miranda Kerr wearing Micheal Kors and not afraid to show such skin.
Gisele Bunchen wearing barely anything and still looking hot!
Alexa Chung wearing Erdem and looking very chic in sheer cut out
I'm not sure I like the hair Nicole but I love that she's rockin Topshop on the red carpet
Anne Hathaway in Valentino, she chooses the Met Gala to sport her new blonde hair and ladies I like it! Tops marks for smokey eye look. Close up here
Cameron wearing blue Stella McCartney and tops it off with a spike studded belt.

 The worst dressed:
Madonna wearing Givenchy.....just a blazer and tights as you do!
Miley Cyrus wearing Marc Jacobs fish net...not good and her hair is a little extreme!
Katie Holmes wearing a backless white Calvin Klein, I felt this dress did nothing for her. And what punk theme?
Beyonce wearing Kenzo, she's been on best dressed lists all day but sorry B this is just awful! She might have avoided this list if it werent for those nasty matching boots.
Sienna Miller wearing Burberry, this dress is fab but it makes me wonder if the hairband and leather jacket were an after thought.
Kim K wearing Riccardo Tisci, one word TRAGIC!!!
Sweet Jesus! Kathy Perry wearing D&G, its a dress theme not a full on costume party. She was said to be channeling the original queen of punk Joan of Arc, Miss.
Lily Cole wearing Vivienne Westwood- My verdict....Trashy!
Mary Kate Olsen wearing bedroom chic!! This girl is only 26 years of age what does she be thinking??
Sarah Jessica Parker works a crazy look well with this Philip Treacy head piece channeling a punk mohawk. I think she deserves a few extra points for trying and seemed confident enough to pull it off. She should have left the Louis Vuitton thigh high boots at home though.
The worst list goes on and on! I feel the red carpet took on more of a gothic theme and vampy makeup look then the punk vibe it was titled. What do you think? Do you have a best or worst dressed you want to share? Give all the details in the comments below!

Steal her Style: Rihanna inspired dress from Vavavoom.ie

When Rihanna launched her Collection for River Island I lost count the amount of times I saw this dress pop up in my news feed. I fell in love with it and was determined to pick up a similar dress, I thought it was super sexy with its leg split and paired with the right shoes I knew it could really make a statement.

So how thrilled was I to find an identical dress on the Irish website Vavavoom.ie! I ordered it straight away and it arrived the next morning. The dress is fab on! A little long but hey I'm 5 ft 3" so I'm used to that. I'll have it taken up about 2 inchs to work with my heels and the dress only cost €26.99 so even with alterations its still a bargain.

For accessories I've decided to keep the look Rihanna inspired, I spotted this amazing piece of jewellery from De Loup Designs in Dublin, such a unique piece, team it with these fab heels from Nasty Gal and you've got yourself an outfit to be remembered.

Dress: Vavavoom.ie
Necklace: De Loup Designs
Sandles: Nasty Gal

And some good news for online shoppers Vavavoom.ie have kindly given all my readers 10% off their purchases from now on, yeah!! Just enter wardroberesurrection at the checkout.

Happy Shopping,

How to wear a black maxi skirt with heels

A maxi skirt styled with a tank top and flats has fast become a Summer staple. But how does one wear this style skirt when the sun isnt shining and your not tall enough to get away with wearing flats? Irish gals and short girls I'm talking to you! The weather is pretty good today but for how long who knows. So to make sure your getting some wear from that staple piece here's a few idea's to have you looking hot in this wardrobe classic.
Outfit 1: Monochrome
Mixing sporty with dressy is a key look this season but says I'm cool enough I didnt try. Style your maxi with a cute black and white t-shirt and wedge heels for smart day/ evening wear. If you find the box clutch too dressy for day opt for a black and white cross body bag instead.

T-shirt: Ismodo.com
Skirt: Mango
Shoes: Debenhams
Clutch: ASOS
Necklace: Topshop

Outfit 2: Pop of floral print
What better way to add some drama to your outfit then with this floral printed blazer, and one of this seasons key colour's green. This blazer is sure to keep you warm through this transitional weather and when the temperatures go up you can loose the blazer and add a cool olive green/gold necklace to break the black on black. If you wear a looser jacket or top be sure to cinch in your waist by wearing a belt to avoid looking frumpy.

Blazer: River Island
Skirt: Mango
Top: New Look
Clutch: DSW
Necklace: River Island
Belt:Topshop

Outfit 3: Night time glam
Style this beautiful maxi skirt for dinner or for a special night out by opting for this pretty sequin top, it has a cute white back to lighten the overall colour palette. Just add a silver bracelet and this cobalt blue clutch for a pop of colour. Style it with a fitted black jacket to keep you warm while your waiting for a cab.

Top: Topshop
Skirt: Mango
Clutch: Boticca
Bracelet: Kurt Geiger
Shoes: ZARA

A maxi dress has so much potential for day aswell just pop on a turtle neck, pendant necklace and leather jacket. Another cute monochrome look is stripes at the moment so go for a long sleeved top option, tuck it in with a cute skinny belt and necklace. The beauty of a maxi skirt length is you can be wearing tights to keep you warm and nobody can tell the difference.

Hope this helps! For more inspiration checkout my post on "How to wear a high-low hem for Winter" can easily be adapted to a maxi skirt.
